Disabled Sports Adaptive Instructor - Seasonal
Description:
Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra (DSES) is a non-profit adaptive ski and snowboard school located at Main Lodge at Mammoth Mountain. Instructors teach ski and/or snowboard lessons to people with physical and cognitive disabilities. Instructors are also expected to assist with events, equipment maintenance and area upkeep. This position is 40 hours per week and includes weekends and holidays from approximately November through April for the 2008-2009 season.
Requirements:
Working at DSES is an exciting, demanding and extremely rewarding job. Instructors work closely with students of all ages and are expected to be role models for our volunteer instructors. Applicants must possess excellent communication and problem solving skills. A passion for fun and working with people with disabilities in a winter environment is also prerequisite for this position.
Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra is a member school of Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA). Instructors teach adaptive ski and snowboard lessons using the American Teaching System. Experience teaching skiing or snowboarding, PSIA certification or the international equivalent OR experience working with people disabilities is required.

Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS)

Description:
Disabled Sports Eastern Sierra (DSES), Mammoth Lakes, CA is looking for a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) to oversee the intern program, teach adaptive ski and/or snowboard lessons and assist with adaptive training. DSES (a non-profit adaptive Sports School at the Main Lodge at Mammoth Mountain) is a year-round sports program for people with disabilities. Ski and/or snowboarding skills and a passion for working with people with disabilities in a winter environment is a prerequisite for this position. Good verbal communication skills are a must.
Requirements:
Current CTRS certificate, minimum of one year experience (2 years preferred) teaching adaptive skiing and/or snowboarding. PSIA certification preferred. We value flexibility, hard work, professionalism, a sense of humor, and initiative. Full-time position available starting in October. Pay DOE. Intern (Winter)
Education: High School Graduate or equivalent, college degree or in process of degree.
Certifications: Professional Ski Instructors of America (PSIA) Adaptive certification desired but not necessary (winter only).
Experience: Ideal candidate would have some experience working with people with disabilities. Winter: knowledge of skiing (preferred) and snowboarding preferred but not necessary.
